Its a reference to a TV series called Smiling Friends. They have a character in one of the episodes that is in the image linked and he notoriously plays a game called Mouse Quest.
oh man, it's been so long since i watched the first season. now it makes sense (y)

I have to ask, why the shading on the face compared to the torso? It seems to be a deliberate stylistic choice. Is her face meant to constantly be in shadow or something? It doesn't really look like a tan, and if the armor we're seeing her in is typical, it's not clear how tanlines like those would result anyway.

no, those are tan lines. look at her hips for example. those would be weird highlights inside shadows it it wasnt. same with her collar area. why they have this shape? because i liked the shape, lmao

The protagonist... doesn't really look like a mouse. Her teeth are scary, and her tail is more like a lion. And of course, I see no mouse ears.
Should be good enough for a regular game, but I think just having breasts bigger than her head doesn't make her good-looking enough for a porn game.

It looks like she's covered in soot, not tanned. When skin gets tanned it gets more saturated not less, unless she's perfectly alabaster white she'd get more red/yellow in her tanned areas, not more charcoal colored. If you look at real tans, they don't have greyish tanned skin and then pinky untanned skin.

Please use reference in the future. Your art is appealing outside of this, but the response in this thread should make you reconsider how you render tan lines. You can't go up to everyone who thinks it looks weird and go "well actually".
